Yoga & Meditation

CANDLELIGHT YOGA

A Yin-inspired yoga practice where we hold our postures for a longer length of time allowing us to target our deeper connective tissue, our fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones.  The studio setting is lit with candlelight, creating a relaxing environment.

CHAIR YOGA

This class is great for those with limited mobility, strength and/or flexibility.  Using the chair as a prop, you have the confidence of stability with no fear of falling or worrying about getting up and down from the floor.  The chair is an excellent prop to help you stretch and lengthen your body.  You will feel taller and lighter with a sense of very real peace by the end of class.  The techniques taught are great for those who work behind a desk and need a little yoga break in their day as well.

EASY YOGA

Easy yoga is a beginner-friendly class and a great way to introduce mobility and gain more flexibility in your yoga practice. With the use of a variety of props, we gently move through the yoga poses. Easy yoga is great not only for those with limited flexibility, but also for seniors and those who are working at a desk all day. With the use of a chair, you will learn techniques that you can use throughout your day while at the office.

A COURSE IN MIRACLES

A universal self-study system that offers a way to true freedom through forgiveness and love. Study includes "A Course in Miracles” text, and how to integrate the teachings into daily life and spiritual practice. Additionally, this class combines Biblical principles and 12 Step recovery work.

ECSTATIC DANCE

Burn calories, energize your body, uplift your mood, release stress and express your spirit!Ecstatic Dance is defined as overpowering joy and rapture in the Spirit, and a deep sense of well being.  A perfect opportunity to Praise Dance and Worship God in Spirit and truth. Allow the Holy Spirit to move you.

PLYOGA

PLYOGA is designed to challenge everyone from a fitness beginner to a perennial athlete.  PLYOGA uses a 4 part plyometric interval system which implements yoga as an active recovery, creating achievability and a true growth process for participants. PLYOGA encourages every participant to be better in tune with their body, their goals, and their overall desire to be great.  Find your inner athlete.  YOUR BODY IS POWER.

 

Classes for Seniors

Bella Buddha offers an array of classes for seniors, those with limited mobility, or recovering from injury.  Our senior classes simply modify our regular classes into variations designed to increase the fitness level of individuals 65+ in age.

We understand the individual who has been active their whole life yet now seeks a program that continues to challenge, yet honor the body and/or seniors who have been sedentary and are discovering the need to exercise as they grow older and desire continued comfort and ability.

Easy yoga is great not only for those with limited flexibility, but also for seniors and those who are working at a desk all day. With the use of a chair, you will learn techniques that you can use throughout your day while at the office.

STRENGTH AND STRETCH

This senior-friendly strength-training class uses stability balls, chairs, and resistance bands.

Why strength-training for seniors?  Research shows that resistance training can help older people in daily activities, such as climbing stairs, getting in and out of a car, and fixing dinner.  Strength-training is particularly useful for seniors because people generally lose muscle strength as they age.  Resistance bands offer more variety because you can create resistance in all directions.  Also, since there are different tension levels based on the color band you use, you can easily alter the difficulty level. Use a higher tension band for an easier exercise like bicep curls, or a lower tension band for more difficult exercises like overhead shoulder press.  Incorporating the use of the stability ball adds yet another challenge to our core strength which is fundamental to good health and well-being.

FAMILY YOGA

Bring the entire family to this class for partner yoga, games, and meditation.  All ages welcome!  $25 per family.

KIDS YOGA

At Bella Buddha, we teach children through music, song, story-telling, dance, and games.  Your child will be introduced to meditation techniques, yoga asanas, the yamas and niyamas (yoga’s 10 ethical guidelines for living), and relaxation techniques, and have lots of fun doing it!
